ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will be resuming flights to the UK after Eidul Fitr following the decision by the EU to lift its ban on the airline.
According to Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Dr. Mohammad Faisal, PIA flights will start from London and Manchester to Pakistan and, hopefully, flights from Birmingham will be restored shortly.
The media is invited to attend a special ceremony to mark the resumption of flights. This follows PIA’s first flight to Paris on January 10, 2024, since the four-and-a-half-year ban the EU imposed after the crash of a PIA plane in Karachi and the controversy of pilots being employed by Hungary with fake licenses.
“PIA is hoping to have Birmingham back in the next phase.” Meanwhile, the process of privatizing PIA is on the fast track, with the Arif Habib Group, Taba Group, and YB Holdings having shown interest in going ahead with the process to acquire the airline.
