RAWALPINDI: In a tragic announcement, the senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Siddiqul Farooq passed on Sunday after an extended struggle against kidney disease.
Farooq played many roles in politics, with a distinguished career that included serving as Principal Secretary to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and three years in prison. He will be long remembered as a great commentator, a political figure, an inspirational and humane leader.
On Monday, December 16, 2024, the body will be laid to rest following funeral prayers at 40-Rabbani Masjid, H-11, Islamabad.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his profound condolences at the demise of Siddiqul Farooq, stating that his contributions towards PML-N will be remembered forever. He prayed for the departed soul’s eternal peace and strength for the family to bear this loss.
Senator Irfan Siddiqui of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) also extended his heartfelt compassion, citing this as a great loss for the veteran leader. He paid glowing tributes to Siddiqul Farooq and lauded him for his marvelous legacy and selfless and devoted services to the party.
Senator Irfan Siddiqui elucidated that Siddiqul Farooq bore imprisonment true with courage and loyalty to Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, never surrendering to pressures or betraying his leadership. He prayed that may Allah Almighty have mercy upon the departed soul of Siddiqul Farooq and grant serenity to his family to cope with this loss.
