ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on Monday announced to give 1 million smartphones, tablets and laptops to students in the province, who will be selected on merit.
As per the details, the Shehbaz Sharif made this announcement while addressing a ceremony organized in connection with International Youth Day in the federal capital.
He promised to ensure the provision of ample resources to the youth of the nation to help transform the country into a developed nation.
His aim was to provide opportunities to the youth, who are a large part of the country, to change the destiny of Pakistan as Prime Minister.
“The youth of the country have the potential to take the nation to new heights, if they are given access to modern education and resources,” the state broadcaster quoted him as saying.
The prime minister also announced that he would personally fund the education of 1,000 agricultural graduates in China, adding that such measures would help boost the country’s agricultural production.
He disclosed that Huawei has also committed to send 200,000 youths for IT training and advanced education.
The Prime Minister laid down some basic criteria for distribution of free smartphones, laptops and tablets to students as complete details will be shared in due course.
According to available information, 10 lakh smartphones, tablets and laptops will be provided to high performing students across the country.
Students from all four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will be eligible to benefit from this scheme.
Additionally, each province has separate programs to help students, the Prime Minister added.
