ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has approved the immediate provision of Rs23 billion to solve the recent grievances of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), state-run Radio Pakistan reported.
The approval was given at a special meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad today. It took stock of the current situation in AJK.
The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the top political leadership including ministers and leaders of coalition parties.
On Sunday, PM Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep concern over the ongoing situation in AJK, urging all parties to adopt a peaceful course of action to resolve their demands.

“Unfortunately in situations of chaos and dissent, there are always some, who rush in to score political points,” he wrote on his X. “Despite the efforts of detractors, the matter is expected to be settled soon,” he said.
The wheel jam and shutter down strike over high flour and electricity prices entered its fourth day on Monday as a possible agreement between the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee and the AJK government ended in a deadlock on Sunday.
The Awami Action Committee has affirmed continuing its march on the state capital and shutdown strike until their demands are met after talks between the JAAC core committee and AJK Chief Secretary Dawood Bareach in Rawalakot ended in a stalemate.
