ISLAMABAD: In a recent development, the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is taking huge steps regrading tourism improvement in Pakistan, directing the authorities to prepare a report regarding new hotel openings and facilities as well as joint ventures and public-private collaborations.
He feels modern facilities will be able to raise tourism for the whole country and appreciates the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for arranging international conferences and events here in the capital.
According to PM the international conferences beginning in Pakistan have proved the country’s success at the diplomatic front, and he is sure that the efforts made by the government will restore confidence among friendly countries.
The Prime Minister Shehbaz said the country needed to make its hotels, hospitals, and other facilities better to give a boost to hosting international-level conferences and events.
He also directed the CDA to provide international standard facilities to the guests of friendly countries besides upgrading the facilities for the residents of the federal capital.
The pre-feasibility reports regarding construction of new hotels and revival of non-operational government buildings in Islamabad were discussed during the meeting-a great step for the promotion of tourism in the city.
The government is also introducing major reforms to promote the tourism sector, and this includes a tourist-friendly visa regime that allows tourists from 126 countries to obtain fast-track visas without a fee.
This would become a key action in promoting the sector and opening up new vistas for socioeconomic development in Pakistan.
As the prime minister mentioned, Pakistan is now joining the rest of the world to celebrate World Tourism Day under the auspices of the United Nations Tourism Organization, which gives a great opportunity to present the potential the country has as a tourist destination.
