ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation this evening with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian.
During the approximately 45-minute cordial and friendly discussion, both leaders exchanged views in detail on the current regional situation. The Prime Minister thanked President Pezeshkian and the Iranian leadership for sending a high-level delegation to Islamabad on April 11–12, 2026, for talks. The delegation was led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Prime Minister Sharif also briefed the Iranian President about his recent engagements with global leaders, including those from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Türkiye. He noted that these interactions have been instrumental in building consensus in favor of dialogue and diplomacy for achieving sustainable peace in the region.
He further appreciated the constructive discussions held with Iranian leadership during the recent visit of Field Marshal Asim Munir to Tehran earlier this week.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment, the Prime Minister stated that the country will continue its sincere and serious efforts, in collaboration with friendly nations, to promote peace and stability in the region. He also conveyed his best wishes for the Iranian Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
President Pezeshkian thanked the Prime Minister and the Field Marshal for Pakistan’s strong commitment to peace efforts and expressed confidence that relations between Iran and Pakistan will continue to strengthen in the coming days.
