In her resignation, Samaira Malik cited her non-nomination for the specific seat.

Samaira Malik, the Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in Punjab, has tendered her resignation from party responsibilities and membership after being denied a ticket.

Former federal minister Samaira Malik submitted her resignation to Rana Sanaullah, the President of PML-N Punjab. The decision came following the party’s announcement of Shaukat Basheer Awan as the candidate for NA-87, the constituency for which Samaira had applied. Notably, she had expressed interest in contesting the elections from NA-87 but was overlooked in favor of Shaukat Basheer Awan.

In her resignation, Samaira Malik cited her non-nomination for the specific seat as the reason for stepping down from both her party position and membership. She had previously demanded a designated party seat and decided to part ways when her request went unheeded.

It’s worth mentioning that Samaira Malik had applied for the PML-N ticket for NA-87 but was not selected, prompting her to announce an independent candidacy. Her spokesperson, Sami ul Haq Awan, stated that Samaira Malik would now support the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidates in the upcoming elections.

This development adds a new dimension to the political landscape as Samaira Malik’s decision to contest independently could impact the dynamics in NA-87. As the election season unfolds, political alignments and strategies are likely to evolve in response to such shifts.
