MUZAFFARABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has decided to withdraw the election ticket issued to Javed Butt for the Refugee constituency, LA-43 Rawalpindi Valley, ahead of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections, according to party sources.
Sources said the decision was taken after a controversial statement attributed to Javed Butt surfaced on social media. The party’s top leadership reportedly took notice of the matter and approved the cancellation of his ticket.
According to sources, the PPP has begun consultations on a replacement candidate for the constituency. Zeeshan Mehdi is expected to be nominated as the party’s new candidate from LA-43 Rawalpindi Valley, although an official announcement is yet to be made.
Party sources said the PPP is currently reviewing its election strategy and making key decisions regarding ticket allocation as preparations for the AJK elections continue.
