Prime Minister meets opposition leader, discusses important issues
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with the opposition leader at the seat after his address in the National Assembly. The Prime Minister held a brief consultation with Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Barrister Gohar and Asad Qaiser, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb also participated in the consultation.
The meeting discussed the rights of the province, the issue of tax exemption on FATA and PATA. The issues facing tobacco farmers of Swabi, especially the abolition of the new tax of Rs 390 per kg, payment of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s arrears, and the closure of the Pak-Afghan border, which has left the province virtually devoid of business, were also discussed.
The mistreatment of Imran Khan, his wife and the PTI leadership in jail, the ban on meetings, the violation of their basic human and legal rights, and the Charter of Democracy were also discussed in detail.
After meeting the opposition leaders, the Prime Minister gave instructions to the Finance Minister to block the pass. Later, on the instructions of the Prime Minister, a PTI delegation led by Asad Qaiser met with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Senator Rana Sanaullah and Federal Minister Amir Muqam in the Finance Minister’s chamber. The Finance Minister said that he would take a decision on tax exemption after consulting with his team.
