Prisoner dies during hospital transfer from Adiala Jail

RAWLAPINDI: Very sad news has come out from Adiala Jail, an attempt to shift a prisoner to the hospital in critical condition could not prove fruitful.

A lifer in Rawalpindi Adiala Jail has been released from life imprisonment. Prisoner Mushtaq was being shifted to the hospital due to his deteriorating health. The prisoner died before reaching the hospital.

According to jail sources, the prisoner died before reaching the hospital, after which the Adiala police post has started the procedure.

It may be recalled that on October 26, a prisoner also died due to a heart attack. Jail sources had said in this regard that 3 prisoners from the jail were shifted to the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology due to heart problems, and one died during the transfer to the hospital.

Jail sources said that a prisoner Mumtaz Iqbal died while being shifted to the hospital. Mumtaz Iqbal was arrested in a drug case in Kallar Syedan ​​police station.

There was also an incident in Adiala Jail in 2024 where 4 prisoners in the AIDS ward of the jail committed suicide by hanging a prisoner. This incident took place in the AIDS ward of Adiala Jail on the intervening night of December 1st and 2nd.
