PTI unveils candidates for by-elections in Punjab

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) revealed its endorsed candidates for the upcoming by-elections in Punjab.

PTI Punjab President Hammad Azhar announced the candidates through a post on social media platform “X” (formerly known as Twitter). Two candidates were named for National Assembly seats and seven for Punjab Assembly seats.

Shehzad Farooq was nominated as an independent candidate supported by PTI for NA-119, the seat previously held by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Additionally, Sardar Muhammad Hussain Dofra was announced as the candidate for NA-132 Qusur.

Other PTI-backed candidates for Punjab Assembly seats include Hakeem Nisar for PP-22 Chakwal, Parvaiz Elahi for PP-32 Gujarat, Owais Qasim for PP-54 Narowal, Aijaz Bhatti for PP-139 Sheikhupura, Hafiz Zeeshan for PP-149, Monis Elahi for PP-158 Lahore, and Yousuf Meo for PP-164 Lahore.

PTI stated that candidates for the remaining constituencies will be disclosed later. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has scheduled the by-elections for April 21, covering vacant seats in national and provincial assemblies, including six National Assembly seats, two each from KP and Balochistan assemblies, and 12 from the Punjab Assembly.
