Public Holiday

The next public holidays for citizens of Pakistan are May 28, 2025 (Wednesday) for Youm-e-Takbeer. Youm-e-Takbeer is celebrated every year on the date of the nuclear tests that were conducted on May 28, 1998.

These tests made the defence of Pakistan invincible. It is on this day that Pakistan became the seventh nuclear nation of the world and the first Muslim nation to enter into the nuclear arsenal of national defence stockpiles for purposes of maximum deterrence for peaceful purposes.

The historic statement by former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto that they would starve but make the country a nuclear power led to the milestone.

Amid external pressures, the then Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif, made the brave decision to test the Pakistani nuclear weapons and thus balance the strategic slanting power in the region.
