LAHORE: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved five major development projects with a total estimated cost of Rs 39.73 billion. This decision was taken in the 63rd meeting of the PDWP.
The meeting was chaired by Planning and Development (P&D) Board Chairman Barrister Nabeel Ahmed Awan and was attended by Secretary P&D Board Dr. Asif Tufail, Chief Economist Masood Anwar and other senior officials.
The approved projects include construction of a road from Bahawalpur (N-5) to Jhangrah Sharqi Interchange (KLM) in Bahawalpur district, at a cost of Rs. 2000 crore. 4.93 billion. Another project includes doubling of the road from Mian Channu (N-5) to Abdul Hakeem Interchange (M-4) via Tulamba in Khanewal district, at an estimated cost of Rs. 2000000. 3.03 billion.
Additionally, the committee approved the dualization of the road from Gujranwala to M-2 Interchange to Kot Sarwar in Gujranwala and Hafizabad districts via Hafizabad. Rs 13.23 billion. Another important project is the dualization of Sargodha-Khushab-Mianwali road in Khushab district, which requires Rs 200,000. Rs 11.80 billion.
Finally, Rs 7.05 billion has been allocated for the widening and improvement of the road from Sialkot Cantt to Jasr Garrison in Sialkot and Narowal districts.
