Punjab collaborates with google for ‘digital school on wheels project’

LAHORE: The government of Punjab announced the Digital School on Wheels project in the province along with the assembling of Chromebooks.

The decisions were taken during the meeting between Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and the delegation from the Australian company Allied, Tech Valley, and Google for Education.

As per the details, Chromebooks will be assembled in Punjab in collaboration with the Allied while the Digital School on Wheels project will be launched soon in the province. Google for Education has shown keen interest in the establishment of the Autism School Project in Punjab.

Under these projects, 50,000 students in Punjab will receive free Google IDs and 1,000 government school teachers will receive free digital certification courses. To compile data on out-of-school children, Google for Education will assist the Punjab government.

Moreover, Google for Education will support a $1.5 million certification project for 15,000 university students. University students will also receive certification in various digital skills including Anti-virus and Artificial Intelligence.

Speaking on the occasion, Maryam Nawaz said that expertise in artificial intelligence and information technology will make youngsters financially independent and make it easier to secure jobs globally.

In the meeting, Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, and other officials were present.
