LAHORE: The Punjab government has officially released Rs. 1.6 billion for its diesel subsidy project. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz launched this initiative to assist wheat growers during the current high petroleum price crisis.
The finance department used these transferred funds to help Kisan Card holders who needed aid during the April 2026 harvest and sowing season. The measure provides small-scale farmers with direct access to immediate financial relief, which goes into their bank accounts.
Farmers who own 25 acres or less of land can receive assistance according to the approved guidelines. The government provides eligible wheat growers with a diesel subsidy, which amounts to Rs. 150 per liter for up to 10 liters of diesel per acre.
A farmer can receive up to Rs. 1,500 per acre through this scheme. The funds can be accessed only by registered farmers who hold an active Kisan Card.
The administration uses a digital system that provides complete transparency to distribute the Punjab Diesel Subsidy for Kisan Card Holders without requiring middlemen to assist.
New information shows that this project connects to a larger agricultural relief package, which will provide Rs. 75 billion for 2026. The government has eliminated motorbike registration and transfer fees for the entire province in addition to providing the Punjab Diesel subsidy for Kisan Card holders.
The authorities have connected these subsidies with modern programs, which include the “Green Tractor Scheme” and solar tubewell initiatives. The combined efforts attempt to reduce production expenses while creating a stronger rural economy in Punjab.
