LAHORE: The Punjab government has taken a significant step towards enhancing road safety by imposing a 60 km/h speed limit for motorcycles across the province.

According to a notification issued by the Transport Department, the new speed limit is now in effect, and violators will be liable to be fined or pirated.

The primary aim of the decision is to reduce road accidents from motorcycle riders.  To drive a car, SUV, or ride a motorcycle in Pakistan, citizens need to obtain a valid license from the relevant authorities to avoid legal action.

Citizens will also have to pass the theoretical and practical tests to obtain their license in Punjab and the other provinces.

The passing of a test consisting of theoretical, practical, and medical components is a requirement for all those wishing to acquire a driver’s license in Punjab.

Additionally, the traffic officers also have the right to request drivers’ licenses at any time for verification, and those who fail to carry the document may receive citations or challans.
