LAHORE: The authorities in Lahore have begun their work to permit the use of school rooftops for the Basant 2026 celebration.

The District Education Authority (DEA) Lahore has issued No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for two government school rooftops in the first phase.

The officials approved the rooftops of both the Govt Victoria Girls Higher Secondary School and the Govt School Delhi Gate for Basant celebrations.

The schools will auction their rooftops after they receive approval from their school councils. The school councils will first publish auction advertisements.

They will then conduct the auctions under a defined and transparent procedure. The authorities use this process to control Basant activities while creating revenue streams for schools.

The DEA Lahore has asked the Walled City of Lahore Authority and the district administration to approve the addition of more government schools. The officials will distribute more NOCs throughout the city after they receive clearance.

The officials state that the phased approval process creates better safety measures while improving Basant event coordination. The authorities will permit additional rooftop access only when departments obtain their necessary permissions before the deadline.
