Punjab Govt launches satellite internet in schools

Lahore: The Government of Punjab on Friday launched a satellite internet initiative in schools aimed at bridging the digital divide.

As per the reports, the project was inaugurated by Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz at DPS Model Town.

During the signing of the MoU, a delegation of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was also present under the leadership of Sheikh Ahmed Dalmouk Al Maktoum. Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz met students at the DPS Digital Lab, stressing the government’s commitment to empowering educational experiences through digital integration.

The MoU aims to provide satellite internet to thousands of schools across Punjab, bridging the digital gap. This collaboration highlights joint efforts to use technology for development.

During the interaction between the two sides, the UAE delegation emphasized the importance of satellite internet in improving digital access, especially in remote areas.

Sheikh Ahmed Dalmouk Al Maktoum expressed his enthusiasm for the project’s potential to support young talent and promote technological innovation. The partnership between One Web, ADM Holding, and the Punjab government represents a united effort to fulfill the region’s digital ambitions.

Maryam Nawaz promised a digitally empowered Punjab, reaffirming the government’s commitment to provide students with access to laptops and satellite internet. Senator Pervez Rasheed and Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb were also present on this occasion.
