LAHORE: The Punjab government has started a program to provide free motorbikes to young orphan students. The move is part of a larger scheme to provide interest-free motorcycles to students, spearheaded by Transport Secretary Ahmad Javed Qazi.

During a recent committee meeting chaired by Qazi, the progress of the motorcycle distribution scheme was reviewed, and strategies to speed up the delivery process were discussed.

According to the announcement of the Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz, the distribution of free motorcycles among the orphan students has officially started. To streamline the process and provide maximum convenience, dedicated booths have been set up in 11 universities. These booths are designed to help students with essential tasks such as opening a bank account and completing other necessary formalities.

Highlighting the dual benefits of this initiative, Secretary Qazi said that provision of electric motorcycles not only helps students but also contributes to environmental sustainability by helping to reduce smog. “Electric motorcycles will play an important role in our efforts to meet environmental challenges,” he said.

Additionally, the program gives students the flexibility to choose the motorcycle model of their choice, allowing them to choose a vehicle that best suits their needs and preferences.

This innovative program is designed to transform the lives of orphaned students by increasing their mobility and independence, thereby facilitating their academic achievement and personal growth.
