ISLAMABAD: The Punjab government has unveiled plans to offer assistance to households consuming less than 300 units of electricity. Mujtaba Shujaur Rahman, Punjab’s Finance Minister, announced this initiative during a media briefing at the Punjab Assembly premises.
He stated that a scheme is being developed specifically for individuals with electricity consumption below 300 units.
Rahman mentioned that this scheme is expected to be included in the upcoming 2024-25 budget, with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz establishing a committee to supervise its implementation. He highlighted that more than 25 million households in Punjab fall within the bracket of consuming 300 units or less of electricity.
While discussing the rise in electricity and gas prices, Rahman attributed it to federal government policies, criticizing the PTI’s handling of the matter as being incompetent.
