ISLAMABAD: As part of the environmental improvement and hygiene initiative, a ban has been imposed on the use of certain plastic bags.
According to ARY News, DG Environment Protection Punjab Dr. Imran Hamid announced the ban on plastic bags and said that according to the laws of Punjab, the sale of single-use plastic bags is a crime.
The DG Environment Protection said that under this ban, shopping bags with a thickness of less than 75 microns will not be used across the province.
He added that our goal is to make the entire Punjab free from plastic bags by June 5. So far, fines of Rs 15 million have been imposed in actions against single-use plastic bags.
