Punjab recruits over 7,300 interns to teach in govt colleges

LAHORE: The government of Punjab has completed the recruitment of 7,354 college teacher interns in government colleges across the province.

In a briefing to the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Secretary Higher Education Dr. Farrukh Naveed stated that college teacher interns would be given Rs. 50,000 per month for eight months.

The college teacher interns, hired under the Higher Education Internship Program, would teach in government colleges until the completion of the academic session by March 31.

During the meeting, CM Maryam Nawaz congratulated the higher education team for recruiting interns on merit by maintaining transparency, the statement read.

The participants were also informed in the briefing that the transfer and posting of 962 college teachers had been completed under an e-transfer policy.

The teachers received their orders after applying online on a portal. The appointment of principals and directors of government colleges would also be done under transparent criteria, the officials added.
