Punjab Roshan Gharana: Complete guide to apply for free solar scheme online

LAHORE: The Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif unveiled a plan to distribute 50,000 solar systems under the “Chief Minister Roshan Gharana” program across the province.

In this regard, the provincial government has finalized the process to provide free solar panels to the public.

In Phase 1, with the Budget outlay of Rs 12.6 billion, 50,000 protected consumers using 100 units monthly will be given solar systems through balloting. Gradually home-based solar systems will be provided to other consumers of Punjab.

A solar system will include an advanced solar plate, inverter, battery, and other allied accessories.

Eligibility Criteria for the Punjab Roshan Gharana solar scheme

The government will provide free solar systems to households consuming up to 100 units of electricity per month.

Those who have been involved in electricity theft, meter tampering, and other illegal activities will not be eligible for the scheme.

Must be a Pakistani citizen.

Must have a valid CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card).

Must own the property or have authorization from the property proprietor for solar panel installation.

The data of families consuming up to 100 units per month will be sent to the National Telecommunication. The NTC will later forward the data to the Punjab Information Technology Board after verification.

Registration Process for Punjab Roshan Gharana free solar scheme

Eligible families can register with the scheme through SMS. They are required to send their bill reference number and CNIC to 8800.

After verification, they will be informed about the results.

Other than that, citizens can apply through the website URL, provided by the relevant government authority overseeing the scheme. Applicants can also visit any Bank of Punjab branch to apply for the scheme.

You will receive a notification regarding the status of your application once it’s approved.
