LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz announced the launching of a free motorbike scheme for girls at the Chief Minister Pink Games closing ceremony on Sunday.

While speaking on the occasion, she urged parents to trust their daughters and permit them to use motorbikes.

At the first Chief Minister Pink Games closing ceremony, Cm Maryam Nawaz presented a trophy to the Lahore College for Women University winning team. She also distributed prizes among the successful teams.

In a separate activity on Sunday, CM Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the remodeling project of the Shahdara metro bus station and visited it. Later, she boarded the metro bus, traveled up to Gaddafi Stadium and closely monitored the situation.

Last month, the Punjab government launched the Chief Minister’s Youth Initiative, under which 20,000 motorcycles will be provided to students of degree colleges and universities including 19,000 petrol bikes and 1,000 electric bikes under interest-free schemes.

However, according to a recent update, the provincial government canceled eco-friendly transportation due to some hurdles, now the government proposes fuel-powered motorbikes instead of 1,000 electric bikes at easy installments.

As per sources, the electric bike proposal was canceled due to some concerns over bike features, citing concerns over battery theft and the low mileage of bikes.
