Qayyum confesses to orchestrating Dr Shahid’s murder for girl

LAHORE: In the drop scene of PTI founding member Dr Shahid Siddiqui’s murder case, his son Qayyum Shahid allegedly hired the shooter to assassinate his father for a girl named Daneese Ali.

As per the initial investigation, Qayyum along with his close friend, Shehryar, planned to kill his father after he refused his request to marry a girl of his choice.

Initially, Qayyum allegedly hatched a plan and hired an assassin for Rs5 million in January to target the victim while he was withdrawing money from the bank. However, Shahid survived the attack According to the police, the accused wanted to kill Dr. Shahid and make a scene of firing on resistance.

Police said that the son of the deceased met the shooter again and provided plan B worth Rs20 million in case of failure. Under Plan B, the shooter kept waiting for Dr. Shahid around the bank along with the vehicle for an hour. The footage of the PTI leader’s son doing reconnaissance with the accused also came out.

Digital publication, The Scoop, citing sources, said that Daneese and Qayyum had been dating for two years. Qayyum reportedly stole gold and jewelry worth millions and transferred the money to her. When the money ran out, they allegedly conspired to murder Qayyum’s father, it added.

During the Organised Crime Unit (OCU) investigation, Qayyum confessed to killing his father for Daneese. Police sources claim they have ‘concrete evidence’ against Qayyum.

FIR registered on the complaint of Dr. Shahid’s other son, Taimur, stated that Qayyum and his uncle Sajid were present when the shooter attacked Dr. Shahid as he was getting into his car.

Dr. Shahid Siddiq, owner of a prominent private hospital and local PTI leader, was shot dead outside a mosque in Valencia Town, Lahore, after Friday prayers.

Inspector General (IG) Punjab Usman Anwar took notice of the incident and ordered a thorough investigation into the targeted killing. IGP instructed on using all available resources to apprehend the culprit and sought a detailed report from the DIG Operations.
