Quetta Airport Runway wins Asia-Pacific Engineering Award

QUETTA: The newly constructed runway of Quetta International Airport was awarded the prestigious FIDIC Asia Pacific Engineering Excellence Award during a ceremony in Islamabad.

Officials say the runway — completed without closing the airport and at a cost of approximately PKR 5 billion — is now among the longest and strongest in the region.

The award recognizes the Pakistan Airports Authority and project consultancy teams for their exemplary planning, technical expertise and safety record.

The runway saw the first landing of PIA flight PK-3250 from Islamabad on May 31, 2023.
