Ramadan likely to complete 30 days, Eid on March 21

ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department has made a prediction regarding the sighting of the Eid moon.

Deputy Director of the Meteorological Department Anjum Nazir said regarding the Eid moon that the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting will be held in Islamabad on March 19, however, it is impossible to see the Eid moon on March 19.

He said that the moon will be sighted on the 19th at 6:23 am according to Pakistani time, the age of the moon at sunset will be 12 hours and a few minutes, while the moon can be seen even through a telescope if it is more than 14 hours old.

According to the Deputy Director of the Meteorological Department, it is scientifically impossible to see the moon when it is 12 hours old, it is also difficult to see it through a telescope and the common eye cannot see it.

Anjum Nazir further said that this year it seems likely that there will be 30 days of Ramadan and the first day of Shawwal, i.e. Eid, may fall on Saturday, March 21, but the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will make the formal announcement.
