RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (CTP) has introduced a new traffic plan to alleviate congestion on highways and around schools and colleges as classes resume across the district.

As per a CTP spokesperson, more traffic personnel will be deputed on congested highways and outside schools and colleges. Forklifts will also be deployed at main points to address illegal parking and avoid traffic jams.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam ordered circle and sector in-charges to plan comprehensive traffic plans for their respective areas, with a special focus on school areas. He stressed providing the citizens with the best possible settings during peak school hours.

The plan strictly bans double parking, one-way street parking, and pushcart stalls outside schools. Additional officers will be deployed during school release times to make sure that traffic remains free-flowing.

The CTO also cautioned that strict action would be initiated against the persons causing traffic jams or making other road users struggle. He also requested that school and college administrations provide clear pick-and-drop lanes outside their campuses.

Appealing to the citizens to cooperate, CTO Aslam requested drivers and parents to drive responsibly and obey traffic rules to prevent chaos during peak hours.
