Roof collapse leaves many injured at Gujrat DHQ hospital

LAHORE: On Wednesday, a tragic occurrence on the surgical ward roof at Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital claimed the lives of two patients and injured over a dozen others.

The deceased person was identified as Azmat Bibi and a minor boy.

The roof collapsed, trapping several patients beneath the debris. Rescue officials managed to extract them and transferred them to hospital’s ground.

The hospital administration was accused of negligence by patients and their attendants. Local media outlets have shown clips of people wailing and screaming for assistance following the terrifying event.

Cranes and bulldozers were used to carefully clear the wreckage, keeping in mind the delicate mission of rescuing survivors buried beneath.

The scene of destruction served as a stark warning about the brittle infrastructure found in buildings owned by the government.
