ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has been called for tomorrow, Thursday, to see the Shawwal moon.
The meeting will be chaired by the Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, and meetings of the zonal committees will be held in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, and other cities.
Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Abdul Khabir, has said that the announcement of the sighting of the Shawwal moon will be made after the witnesses.
It should be noted that the Meteorological Department has predicted that Eid-ul-Fitr will be on March 21.
The decision on when Eid will be celebrated in Pakistan will be made after the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting tomorrow. If the moon is sighted tomorrow, then Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in Pakistan on Friday.
On the other hand, a meeting has been called for today, March 18, to see the Shawwal moon in Saudi Arabia. The Saudi Judicial Council says that a meeting will be held in Saudi Arabia on the 29th of the month of fasting to see the Shawwal moon.
The moon will also be sighted in the UAE today. Astronomers have predicted that Eid al-Fitr will be on Friday, March 20, in the UAE, but the final announcement will be made after the moon is sighted today.
