ISLAMABAD: The prime accused in Sana Yousaf murder case has been sent to jail on fourteen days for identification parade, according to media reports.

The police presented the accused in the court of Duty Magistrate Ahmed Shahzad Gondal.

During the hearing, the district prosecutor was absent from the court, on which the duty magistrate expressed his dissatisfaction, saying that prosecutors often do not appear in court.

The court summoned the district prosecutor to the courtroom but was told that the prosecutor was on leave. The court adjourned the hearing until the district prosecutor arrived.

However, the court accepted the request for identification parade of the accused Umar Hayat and sent the accused to jail on fourteen days of judicial remand.

Earlier, Islamabad Police on Tuesday arrested the suspect in the murder case of TikToker Sana Yousaf, and a weapon has been recovered.

The police said that the accused, who hails from Punjab, has confessed to the crime and that Yousaf’s iPhone was also recovered from the suspect.

Initial investigations reveal that the accused had prior contact with the victim, and the motive behind the killing was a personal grudge.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the swift action by law enforcement.

In a post on X, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the Sana Yousaf murder case was resolved, the accused arrested, and the weapon recovered within 20 hours.

“The incident occurred yesterday in Islamabad when a young girl was murdered by a masked accused. The accused was arrested just an hour ago.”

The police have recovered the pistol and the iPhone of the deceased girl, and the accused has confessed to the murder as well, the minister added.
