ISLAMABAD: Following public backlash, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has restored the previous fare rates for metro and electric buses in Islamabad.

The civic agency spokesperson said that the authority withdrew the fare increase following the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

According to the notification, the previous fare restoration will apply to all bus services, including the Orange Line, Green Line, Blue Line, and Electric Bus feeder routes, with immediate effect.

It should be noted that citizens had strongly protested against the increase in fares, after which the authority had to withdraw the decision.

The city managers had increased the fare from Rs 50 to Rs 100 from June 1, reducing the subsidy on bus service.
