ISLAMABAD: A sessions court in the federal capital on Monday sent Umar Hayat, the main accused in the murder of TikToker Sana Yousuf, to jail on judicial remand after completing his three-day physical remand.

Police produced Umar Hayat before Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Hafeez and said that no further physical remand was required. The prosecution did not request an extension, following which the court ordered the accused to be sent to jail on judicial remand.

During the proceedings, the defense counsel expressed concern over the refusal of the accused to meet his parents.

The lawyer also pointed out that the case had received a lot of media attention, which complicated matters for the defense. The court responded by noting that the accused is now in judicial custody, and standard jail procedures will apply.

Faisalabad resident Umar Hayat allegedly shot dead TikToker Sana Yousuf inside his residence in Islamabad. The incident sparked public outrage and widespread media coverage, with demands for justice intensifying on social media platforms.
