QUETTA: The schedule for by-elections on the vacant General Local Council seats in 20 districts of Balochistan has been issued.
Polling on 81 different General Local Council seats vacant in 20 districts of Balochistan will be held on August 09, 2026, the Election Commission has issued a notification.
Seats have fallen vacant in Pishin/Barshor, Chagai, Zhob, Sherani, Loralai, Daki, Musakhel, Sibi, Harnai, Kohlu Nasirabad, Awsta Muhammad, Kachhi, Jhal Magsi, Kalat, Khuzdar, Lasbela, Hub, Kech and Gwadar.
According to the schedule, the Returning Officers will issue a public notice on June 30, 2026. Nominations can be submitted to the relevant Returning Officers from July 1 to 3, 2026. Scrutiny of nominations will be held from July 6 to 8, 2026.
The preliminary list of candidates will be published on July 9, 2026. Appeals against the approval or rejection of nominations can be filed from July 10 to 13. The last date for decision on appeals has been fixed as July 16, 2026.
The revised list of candidates will be released on July 17, 2026. Candidates can withdraw from the election phase by July 18, 2026. The final electoral list of candidates will be released on July 20 and election symbols will be allotted.
