School building collapses in Chakwal due to heavy rains

CHAKWAL: A devastating incident occurred in the remote Watli area of Choa Saidan Shah in Chakwal, where a building of the government boys’ primary school completely collapsed due to the recent heavy rains that battered the region.

According to reports, the school building crumbled due to the intense rainfall that caused widespread destruction across the country.

Fortunately, the school was closed on the day of the collapse, and all students were safely relocated to another school, avoiding any potential casualties.

Deputy Commissioner Qurat-ul-Ain Malik promptly responded to the situation, ensuring the safety of the students and issuing orders for the restoration of the school building.

The authorities concerned have been directed to take immediate action to repair and rebuild the damaged structure, enabling the resumption of educational activities without delay.

Earlier, The tragic incident took place in Rahim Mulukhani village of Tando Adam in Sanghar, where 8 students were injured when the roof of a government primary school collapsed

The injured students were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical assistance where they are still in the process of recovery.

These incidents highlight the vulnerability of infrastructure in remote and mountainous regions, where heavy rains can cause significant damage.

The authorities must prioritize the maintenance and upkeep of public buildings, especially schools, to prevent such incidents in the future.

The collapse of the school building serves as a reminder of the importance of disaster preparedness and infrastructure resilience, particularly in areas prone to natural disasters.
