Section 144 imposed in Balochistan till 10th Muharram, motorcycle pillion riding banned in Quetta

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has imposed Section 144 across the province to maintain law and order during Muharram, which will be in effect from 1st Muharram to 10th Muharram.

According to the official announcement, a complete ban has been imposed on the promotion of inflammatory, sectarian and hateful content during Muharram, while the publication of hateful content on all digital platforms including social media has also been prohibited.

The government has banned the display of weapons and ammunition and carrying them in public places and has issued instructions to limit the access of suspects to sensitive places and processions. Similarly, the presence of professional beggars on the routes of public places and processions has also been prohibited.

According to the announcement, motorcycle pillion riding will be completely banned in Quetta during Muharram, while prior permission has been made mandatory for the use of loudspeakers outside the district.

Additionally, entry of unauthorized persons on the rooftops and balconies of buildings located along the procession routes has been banned. Wall chalking, banners, posters and pamphlets will also be banned in Quetta and Naseerabad.

The Balochistan government has warned that action will be taken against violators under relevant laws including Section 188. Deputy Commissioners, police and other relevant agencies have been instructed to ensure strict implementation of these orders.
