Security forces retain control as multiple BLA attacks averted in Balochistan

QUETTA: A series of coordinated militant attacks was carried out at multiple locations across Balochistan on Wednesday, but security forces said they responded swiftly, repelling the assaults and restoring control within hours.

According to security officials, the attackers targeted law enforcement and security installations in several districts, including Quetta, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kalat, Pasni, Gwadar, Mastung, Kharan, Tump and Balicha.

Authorities described the incidents as part of a broader, pre-planned campaign by militants seeking to create instability in the province.

Multiple Targets, Coordinated Effective Response

In Quetta’s Saryab Road area, armed assailants opened fire on a police van. Police returned fire immediately, and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel joined the response. Officials said four attackers were killed in the exchange, and the area was later secured.

In Nushki, militants reportedly launched a fire raid on the FC Headquarters. Security personnel responded, forcing the attackers to retreat without breaching the facility, according to official sources.

An attempted attack was also reported at the FC Headquarters in Dalbandin, where explosions were heard near the compound. Security forces cordoned off the area and began clearance operations. Authorities said the situation was brought under control.

In Kalat, gunmen targeted the Deputy Commissioner’s office and nearby police lines, triggering a firefight. Security officials said the attackers were pushed back and further damage was prevented.

Additional incidents were reported in Pasni, where a Pakistan Coast Guards facility came under distant fire, and in Gwadar, where a labourers’ colony was targeted. In both cases, law enforcement agencies said they responded in time to prevent casualties and secure the sites.

Grenade and small-arms attacks were also reported against security posts in Mastung, Kharan, Tump and Balicha. Officials stated that all such assaults were repulsed.

Security authorities said the overall situation across Balochistan remained under control, adding that a small number of security personnel sustained minor injuries. No major installations were reported damaged.

Officials attributed the attacks to banned militant groups operating in Balochistan and alleged foreign backing for the network involved. They said the violence followed recent counter-terrorism operations in which dozens of militants were killed, suggesting the latest assaults were an attempt to regain momentum.

Security analysts note that militant groups in the region have increasingly targeted both security forces and civilian areas, raising concerns about the safety of vulnerable communities.

Pakistan’s security forces reiterated their commitment to continuing counter-terrorism operations and maintaining stability in Balochistan, vowing to dismantle militant networks and protect civilians across the province.

Failure of ‘Herof 2.0’

Despite inflated claims, the outcome of “Herof 2.0” reflects poor planning, weak execution, and rapid collapse under professional security response. Officials say the campaign has only highlighted the futility of armed violence and the growing isolation of terrorist networks in Balochistan.

Pakistan’s security forces have reiterated their commitment to protecting all citizens, particularly vulnerable communities in Balochistan, and to continuing targeted counter-terrorism operations to dismantle foreign-sponsored networks operating in the province.

As authorities stressed, true accountability lies with the BLA’s and BLAF’s foreign-based terrorist leaders and their foreign handlers, whose actions continue to cost Baloch youth their lives while bringing neither progress nor relief to the people in Balochistan.
