KARACHI: The government of Sindh has announced a public holiday on Friday, April 4 to observer the 46th death anniversary of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) founder, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
According to the notification issued by the Sindh Chief Secretary Asif Haider, all provincial government offices will remain closed on Friday, April 4.
“The holiday will apply to all government offices, autonomous bodies, semi-autonomous organizations, corporations, and local councils under the administrative control of the Sindh government,” it read.
However, essential services of the Sindh government will remain operational.
On this occasion, PPP will hold a memorial gathering in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on April 4, where party workers from across the country are expected to participate.
Earlier, Former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was posthumously awarded the country’s highest civilian award, the Nishan Pakistan, on the 45th anniversary of his death.
Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s daughter Sanam Bhutto received the award at a prestigious ceremony held at the Presidential Palace, while his granddaughter Asifa Bhutto Zardari was also present.
The ceremony recognized individuals who have rendered distinguished services in various fields. It is important to not that now the residents of Sindh will get to enjoy an additional public holiday after the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.
