SINDH: The Sindh government has introduced a comprehensive plan to address the concerns of its citizens who have been severely impacted by the recent hike in electricity bills.

This move comes in response to the Punjab government’s announcement of a temporary relief package, which Sindh Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah described as a “short-term” solution.

Instead of providing temporary relief, the Sindh government is focused on implementing long-term solutions to address the issue.

Additionally, one key initiative is the distribution of solar panels to households, with 200,000 panels already being distributed and an additional 500,000 planned for distribution within the next month.

Sindh CM Syed Murad Ali Shah slammed Punjab’s two-month electricity tariff cut as “bizarre” and questioned its practicality.

In addition, CM stated that he prioritizes tangible work over media appearances, saying “I’d rather deliver results than seek publicity.”

He jokingly added that his party leaders sometimes criticize him for not being on TV enough, but he’d rather focus on projects that benefit the people.

In contrast, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced a relief package for electricity consumers in Punjab, specifically targeting low-income households.

The package includes a reduction of Rs 14 per unit for consumers using up to 500 units of electricity, which is expected to cost the Punjab government Rs 45 billion.

Additionally, Nawaz Sharif announced that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will launch a solar panel scheme to provide further relief to consumers.

The Punjab government has allocated Rs 700 billion for this initiative, which aims to reduce electricity bills in the long run.
