KARACHI – The Sindh government on Friday announced a public holiday on May 1st in the province in connection with International Labour Day.
As per the notification issued by Chief Secretary Sindh, “there will be a public holiday for all government offices, autonomous bodies, semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils under the administrative control of the Sindh government, except essential services.”.
While the federal government has yet to announce this year’s holiday, Employees of government and private organizations are waiting for an official announcement of the holiday.

According to sources, the Cabinet Division circular for this year includes May 1 as a public holiday.
It is pertinent to mention that International Labor Day, celebrated on May 1st worldwide, is a day to recognize the contributions of workers and advocate for their rights.
