KARACHI: The Sindh government has declared a local holiday on February 4 on the occasion of the annual Urs of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ashabi.
According to the notification issued in this regard, all government and semi-government offices as well as educational institutions in Thatta district will remain closed. The aim of this decision is to provide convenience to the pilgrims and improve the arrangements on the occasion of Urs.
On the other hand, the federal government has also issued a list of official holidays for the year 2026. The notification issued by the Cabinet Division has stated that Kashmir Day will be celebrated on February 5 and Pakistan Day on March 23. A three-day public holiday will be given on March 21, 22 and 23 on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Similarly, Labor Day will be celebrated on May 1, while a public holiday will be observed on May 28 on the occasion of Youm-e-Takbir. Holidays have been kept for Eid-ul-Adha on May 27, 28 and 29, 2026. Independence Day will be celebrated on August 14, while there will be a holiday on August 25 on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (peace be upon him).
According to the notification, Allama Iqbal Day will be celebrated on November 9 and Christmas along with Quaid-e-Azam Day will be celebrated on December 25, which will be a public holiday across the country.
