KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah launched the Sindh Job Portal, an entirely digital platform aimed at making government hiring in the province transparent, efficient, and technology-enabled.

The initiative is in line with the vision of ex-premier Benazir Bhutto, who remembered her slogan ‘Benazir aayi hai, rozgaar laayi hai’.

“The Sindh government has increased the availability of testing to make recruitment more transparent and accessible,” he said. “If a candidate gets it wrong once, they can take the test many times. The government will pay for the first attempt.”

Under the initiative of Sindh Testing Service (STS), almost 326,000 candidates have passed screening tests so far, the chief minister said. The tests will now be conducted every month with instant results.

He said all the documents — matriculation certificates, CNICs, and domiciles — will be uploaded on an independent board’s digital platform, making it one large database of eligible candidates.

Shortlisted candidates can then apply directly for government vacancies on the portal. “This platform is a bridge between the Sindh government and jobless youth,” Shah said. “We have bridged the two sides with technology.”

Each department, he further added, will post its vacancies to the portal, which will be automatically refreshed as fresh posts are established.

“For example, if the Education Department makes a decision today that it requires 100 junior clerks, the Finance Department will automatically check the availability of funds,” he said, further adding that such an integration eliminates the delays arising from manual approvals.

In the new system, the Finance Department will sanction posts online, while the Information Department will post the ads simultaneously in newspapers and the job portal.

“This integrated process will expedite recruitment, make it fairer, and more transparent for the youth of Sindh,” Shah said.

Shah stated, Sindh Job Portal, which was designed in collaboration between the Sindh Information Science and Technology Department and Sukkur IBA University, is an important milestone towards e-governance and online public service delivery.

‘Originally designed for grades 5 to 15, the system has now been extended to all job grades with a single, end-to-end digital process — from application and test to interview scheduling, offer letters, and background checks,” he added.

Prime features are: Job matching on the basis of AI and voice search, both in Urdu and English. Multilingual support for Urdu, Sindhi, and English.

Health and Police Special Branch integration for online medical and character verification. Real-time notifications via SMS and email to applicants.
Provincial ministers, advisers, secretaries, legislators, and the media attended the inauguration ceremony.
