KARACHI: The Sindh government has launched an innovative housing scheme, ‘Sasti Basti’, to provide affordable homes to disadvantaged communities across the province.
This initiative was announced during a high-level meeting of the Human Settlement Authority, chaired by Najmi Alam, Advisor to the Chief Minister. The project aligns with the vision of party chairman Bilawal Bhutto to create housing opportunities for the underprivileged.
In addition to ‘Sasti Basti’, the meeting also approved the formation of demolition squads to tackle encroachments in slums across Sindh. This move aims to create a more organized and equitable living environment for residents.
Meanwhile, in a similar initiative, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has introduced the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ program, providing affordable housing options for low-income individuals.
The program has received praise from social welfare organizations, including the Akhuwat Foundation, which commended the CM’s efforts in providing relief measures and promoting homeownership among disadvantaged communities.
The ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ program has already commenced in Punjab, with plans to expand its scope annually, enabling more individuals to achieve their dream of owning a home.
