LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ program, offering interest-free loans for home construction. The initiative provides citizens with access to loans up to Rs 15 lakh through an online portal, aiming to facilitate the construction of 5 lakh homes in five years.
The loan repayment term is set at 7 years, with monthly installments of Rs 14,000. During the launch, Chief Minister Nawaz highlighted Punjab’s potential as an attractive investment destination for Chinese investors.
In addition, she also expressed her commitment to public service and emphasized the importance of continuous work for national progress.
Eligibility Criteria for Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Scheme
Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’s initiative aims at supporting families with monthly income below Rs50,000, those living in rental properties.
- Head of their household in NADRA records.
- Reside permanently in Punjab, as indicated on their CNIC.
- Own a land plot of up to 5 Marlas in urban areas or up to 10 Marlas in rural areas within Punjab, where they plan to build their house.
- Have no serious criminal record.
- Have no outstanding debts to banks or financial institutions.
- Be registered with the National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER) with a PMT score of 60 or lower.
The Punjab government has announced an ambitious plan to construct approximately 100,000 affordable homes, with the initial phase focusing on the construction of 5,760 houses.
This initiative will benefit residents in key cities, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Multan, and Sargodha. By providing affordable housing options, the government aims to address the pressing need for shelter among low-income families and contribute to the overall development of these cities.
Payment Plan for Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Scheme
- Financing: 50% to 60% of the construction cost will be covered through interest-free loans.
- Initial Phase: 5,760 houses will be built.
- Monthly Payments: Begin at PKR 26,000.
