KARACHI: Sindh Home Minister Zia Lanjar has expressed regret over the attack on YouTuber Rajab Butt in the City Court Karachi.
While holding a press conference in Karachi, the Sindh Home Minister said that he had spoken to the Chief Justice about the violence on Rajab Butt.
He said that what happened in the court was not the work of the lawyer; the court police were there.
Zia Lanjar further said that the court police are there to produce and take away the accused, and regretted the attack on the YouTuber.
Earlier, Famous YouTuber Rajab Butt was attacked by lawyers in the City Court Karachi, resulting in him being seriously injured.
Rajab Butt had appeared in the City Court Karachi to seek interim bail. During the appearance, a group of lawyers suddenly attacked him.
Due to the violence, Rajab Butt fell to the ground and needed immediate medical attention. Immediately after the incident, police and court staff reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
Sources say that the reasons for the attack have not yet been revealed. Neither has any official position been issued by the lawyers’ organizations in this regard.
After the incident, panic spread in the City Court premises, while the complainants and others also expressed serious concern.
Meanwhile, the court extended Rajab Butt’s interim bail till January 13. The court proceedings were brief, after which the injured YouTuber was shifted out of the court premises.
According to close sources, Rajab Butt’s condition is said to be out of danger, but he was taken to the hospital for further medical examination.
Police officials said that an investigation has been launched into the incident and footage from cameras installed in the court premises is being obtained.
Action will be taken against those responsible as per the law. The police also said that no one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands.
