SNGPL cracks down on gas theft: 337 connections cut, Rs 4.47 million fines imposed

In Multan, the team disconnected 12 connections for the illegal use of gas and 29 for the use of compressors.

In an assertive crackdown against gas pilferers, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) conducted raids across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad, resulting in the disconnection of 337 illegal gas connections. A substantial fine of Rs 4.47 million was imposed on the violators during the ongoing operation.

The regional team in Lahore disconnected 15 connections due to the illegal use of gas, along with 11 connections using compressors. Additionally, an FIR was lodged against a gas thief, and fines totaling Rs 0.55 million were imposed on gas theft cases. In Rawalpindi, 53 connections were disconnected for the illegal use of gas, and fines amounting to Rs 0.35 million were recorded against gas theft cases.

In Multan, the team disconnected 12 connections for the illegal use of gas and 29 for the use of compressors. One FIR was lodged against a gas thief, and fines of Rs 0.02 million were imposed. Peshawar and Karak witnessed the disconnection of 97 connections due to the direct use of gas, with 5 FIRs lodged against gas thieves. A significant fine of Rs 3.27 million was imposed in these cases.

The regional team in Bahawalpur disconnected 49 connections for the illegal use of gas and 16 for the use of compressors. Fines totaling Rs 0.22 million were imposed against gas theft cases. In Sahiwal, 9 connections were disconnected due to compressor use, while in Faisalabad, 2 connections were disconnected for the illegal use of gas and 14 for the use of compressors. The team imposed fines of Rs 0.03 million against gas theft cases.

In Sheikhupura, 30 connections were disconnected for the illegal use of gas, and fines amounting to Rs 0.03 million were booked against gas theft cases. SNGPL’s vigilant efforts showcase a commitment to ensuring the lawful and secure distribution of gas while deterring unauthorized usage and gas theft in the region.
