Solangi assures Constitutional commitment to Election Commission requirements

Solangi emphasized that there is no ban on raising questions in the country.

ISLAMABAD – Caretaker Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, and Parliamentary Affairs Murtaza Solangi reaffirmed the constitutional obligation of the caretaker government to fulfill the financial, administrative, and security requirements outlined by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). Addressing the media outside the ECP headquarters, Solangi assured the nation that elections are slated to take place on Thursday, February 8, 2024.

Emphasizing the constitutional mandate, Solangi stated that the ECP holds the responsibility, as per the constitution, to organize elections that are free, fair, and transparent. He highlighted that the caretaker government is committed to meeting the stipulated requirements, ensuring the smooth conduct of the electoral process.

Solangi underscored the legitimacy of the caretaker government, asserting its compliance with constitutional and legal norms. He expressed full support for the Election Commission, stating that the government stands firmly behind it.

Recognizing the real security challenges, Solangi assured that the government is cognizant of these concerns and is actively working to enhance the security situation. Responding to queries about PTI-related matters, he suggested that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party would be better equipped to provide information.

In response to a question about freedom of expression, Solangi emphasized that there is no ban on raising questions in the country, reinforcing the democratic principles that allow for open discourse.

As the caretaker government continues to fulfill its constitutional duties, the upcoming elections are poised to reflect the nation’s commitment to a democratic and transparent electoral process.
