RAWALPINDI: A Pakistani soldier was martyred during a counter-terrorism operation in North Waziristan on February 5 and 6. Lance Naik Muhammad Ibrahim, 34, from Hangu district, was killed in an exchange of fire with militants in the Hassan Khel area.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that 12 militants were also killed during the operation. The militants, identified by the ISPR as “Khawarij”, were allegedly responsible for several attacks on security forces and civilians.
The ISPR lauded the bravery and sacrifice of Lance Naik Ibrahim, 34 and highlighted his bravery in the face of militants. Arms and ammunition were recovered from the militant hideout.
A follow-up operation is underway to clear the area of remaining militants. The ISPR reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to eradicate terrorism.
