ISLAMABAD: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued a directive requiring all JazzCash account holders to complete biometric verification in order to maintain access to their digital wallets and avoid service disruptions.
Under the new instructions, JazzCash users must visit their nearest authorized agent or use the JazzCash mobile app to complete biometric confirmation of their identity.
Accounts that remain unverified face the risk of being blocked, which could prevent users from sending, receiving, or withdrawing funds.
Additionally, JazzCash is offering an incentive of Rs.100 to users who complete the biometric process.
The requirement comes as part of the SBP’s broader effort to strengthen financial system security, curb fraud, and align digital financial services with rigorous customer identification standards.
Across Pakistan’s banking and digital wallet ecosystem, biometric verification has now become the primary method of customer identification, replacing earlier grace periods for verification.
Users who fail to complete biometric verification risk having their accounts restricted, which could affect regular financial activities, including bill payments and fund transfers. Account holders are urged to act quickly to avoid interruptions in service.
