LAHORE: DIG Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran condemned the violent protests by the religious and political party, saying that the group was spreading unrest without any justification.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, he said that some groups driven by hidden agendas try to create instability whenever they feel free to move. He said that the law enforcement agencies repeatedly advised the group to postpone its protest and made every effort to resolve the issue peacefully, but the group chose violence instead.

The DIG said that M112 Punjab Police personnel were injured during the protests. While some have been discharged after treatment, most are hospitalized. He also expressed fear that some police personnel are missing and may be in the custody of the group’s workers.

Highlighting the extent of the damage, he said that violent protesters attacked police stations, destroyed the Orange Line, seized citizens’ vehicles and looted valuable properties. More than 100 people who were causing unrest have been arrested. He noted that the reasons given for the protests are no longer relevant, and the party is deliberately creating chaos.

Warning against further harassment of citizens, the DIG said that the state is fully prepared for action. He added that authorities are reviewing Safe City footage to identify those involved in the violent acts and take legal action against them.

Kamran said, “Efforts were made to minimize damage to citizens’ properties. The state will not tolerate any violent activity.”
